I guess I created this site as a living memorial to my 16 year old self, that naive girl who picked up an acoustic guitar and taught herself to rock as hard as any of the dudes. Back then, there wasn't a comprehensive resource on girls who play guitar, those women through the ages who have battled sexism in the music industry and managed not only to hone their craft but become inspirations to all those other 16 year old girls thinking "for god's sake, do I have to learn Stairway to Heaven?"
So this is a celebration of the female musicians, songwriters and performers who continue to battle the twin threats of manufactured pop and media disinterest.
Forget Girls Gone Wild. These are the Girls Gone Guitar.
